Blaqua bespoke tailoring, is truly bespoke in the tradition of garments made to individual customers specifications. What sets Blaqua apart is the choice and creativity we offer whilst retaining the highest standards of traditional craftsmanship. The term bespoke, derives from “bespoken” used in the 17th century to denote a cloth selected and thus “bespoken for” by a customer. Today, the term bespoke applies to garments made to individual specifications and unique patterns, in contrast to made-to-measure garments made in a factory by adjusting existing patterns.
The Blaqua bespoke process begins with a thorough discussion of your requirements. You can expect to be asked when you plan to wear the suit and your anticipated frequency of use. From this information and an assessment of your figuration together with an indication of the required style, the cloth selection will begin. There are in excess of 3,500 cloth options available, from Harris Tweed to silk velvet and from crisp Tonik mohair to soft flannel and from robust English Worsted to super fine Super 160’s. We can also reproduce any of our unique designs onto any number of cloths digitally.
Following cloth and lining selection will come a discussion of the trim and detail options available. Blaqua bespoke suits are renowned for the detail applied, from the flamboyance of velvet collars, pocket flaps and cuffs to the subtlety of simple contrasting buttonholes.
We take more than 20 measurements and figuration notes and from these a basted first fitting garment is created. When this is fitted, elements of balance and accommodation to the individual’s physique are applied. Following this a final fitting takes place where the completed garment can be assessed for exactness of fit.

Blaqua House Style:
Although we are prepared to tailor to your individual requirements & styling quirks, like every good tailor, we do have a house style. Our look has a knowing reference to the Edwardian period & late sixties flair. The coat (jacket) is created with a strong, roped shoulder, 2-buttoned square-cut front opening, longer lined single-vented tail, high cut armholes, gracefully slimmer sleeves & slanted pockets to emphasize the overall look. Trousers tend to be flat fronted coupled with the impression of a gentle kick flare.
